Day Program

At The Bridge, an 8,600-square-foot activity center in Higginsville, Missouri, professional staff engage with participants to work on social skills and practical knowledge in pursuit of living as independent a life as possible. For many individuals, an in-between area like The Bridge provides a connection between life at home and the broader community.

For 25 years, individuals at The Bridge have been developing new talents and getting the opportunity to put those skills into practice in the community. Individuals participate in a wide variety of activities, both on- and off-site:

The Bridge is uniquely positioned to assist participants where they are while preparing them for where they want to go, all in a safe and encouraging environment. When individuals leave for the day, they are already happily anticipating their next visit to The Bridge.

In-Home Support Program

Tenants in the in-home support program are empowered to live and work independently with minimal oversight from LCBSS staff. Each tenant has unique needs, and while the program is not staffed on a 24-hour basis, staff are available to offer assistance based on each tenant’s Support Plan.

LCBSS offers transportation for:

Training in life skills equips and encourages tenants to increasingly participate actively in their community.

Lacomo, Inc., a HUD apartment housing organization, maintains two apartment complexes:

Tenants each sign a personal lease agreement with Lacomo, Inc., allowing them the opportunity to live in their own home independently, while receiving the added benefit of recreating and fostering relationships with fellow community members.

Transportation

Safe, dependable transportation is available to participants in LCBSS programs:

The fleet of 12+ vehicles includes wheelchair-accessible vans, passenger vans and minivans and receives an annual audit by the Missouri Department of Transportation to ensure policy and safety compliance, as well as adherence to best practices.

Support Coordination

A team of Support Coordinators assists individuals eligible for services through the Department of Mental Health, Division of Developmental Disabilities, in a variety of areas designed to improve overall quality of life:

Support Coordinators operate with a working knowledge of Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) as well as the four Medicaid waivers available in Missouri, which allows them to create a Person-Centered Support Plan (PCSP) and provide the unique support each individual needs.
